When my children were young and I was too poor to hire a babysitter I was under the illusion that when they got old enough to be home alone I could do whatever I wanted on Saturday night. My kids are now old enough not to need babysitters, but what I have discovered is that they still need chaperones. My girls love to have friends over on Friday and Saturday nights. So I stay home to be an adult presence. I really don't mind. Their friends are fun and bring a lot of life to our home and I'm grateful that our home is the kind of place the kids like to hang out.

Day 1 - Saturday Nights
When my children were young and I was too poor to hire a babysitter I was under the illusion that when they got old enough to be home alone I could do whatever I wanted on Saturday night. My kids are now old enough not to need babysitters, but what I have discovered is that they still need chaperones. My girls love to have friends over on Friday and Saturday nights.
